Vorbitor 2017 is the Intra-University Speech Contest organized by the Gavel Club of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, for the second consecutive year. This project builds up a platform for undergraduates to showcase their youthful spirits and focus on developing and strengthening the public speaking skills needed to take up chances and raise their voices as future leaders.
The preliminary round of the contest ended on 18th March 2017 within the university premises, on a successful note.
There were more than 100 applicants from different faculties, covering all four academic years. Among them, 74 applicants contested. The registration and inauguration ceremony took place in the reading hall of the Sumangala building. The contest was conducted in three separate halls with three judges each, with Toastmaster Hakeem as the chief judge.
22 contestants were selected to compete at the Semi-Final round on 25th March 2017.
