Speech Master is the biggest University level Best Speaker contest organized by the Gavel Club of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. From its inception, this event has been emulating to great heights, discovering the new dimensions in different kinds of public speaking abilities.
Speech Master has three rounds; the preliminary round, the semi-final round and the grand finale. This event builds up a platform for the local youth to showcase their talents and focus on developing and strengthening the public speaking skills and leadership needed to take up chances and raise their voices as future leaders.
This program was inaugurated in 2014 as the main project conducted by the Gavel Club which was established under Career Guidance Unit and this event is open not only for the state universities but also private universities and other higher educational institutes. More than 35 Toastmasters representing the Toastmasters International contributed in judging the competition. The winner of the contest was awarded a cash price of LKR 100,000.
